Maths | Maths buddy
Today for maths buddy I completed a task called Observed and Expected Frequencies. It is all about statistics/chance. You have to have over 80% to be able to go onto the next task. These questions are very easy I bet an 8 year old can figure it out as well. I hope you come across this task so you can figure it out as well.

Figure it out
This week for maths rotation Riley and I did figure it out. We have to do activities Riley and I pick the "Rock, paper, scissors possibility."
How to play
1. play rock, paper, scissors
2. while you play with your partner record on a piece of paper how many times they put down rock, paper or scissors.
3.Write down on your piece of paper what was the possibility of your friend putting down a rock, paper or scissors.
This is a great possibility game that you can play with your friends or family. I hope you play this because it is educational and full of fun.
Here are our results
Riley- 6/paper 1/scissors 3/rock add it all up you get 10 points
Taylor- 2/paper 6/scissors 2/rock add it all up you get 10 points add 10+10=20 points.

FIO (Figure it out)
This week for figure it out I did a worksheet called "Find a pattern". What you have to do you may ask, you have to find the pattern in the number and write it in, here is an example:
Madison has started collecting football cards. On Tuesday she collected 2 cards and on Wednesday she received 4 cards, while on Thursday she collected 8 cards. If she continues at this rate, how long will it be before she has over 100 cards?

Halloween activities | 4
Halloween
This week for Halloween we had 4 activities to do. My 4th activity was the card game. How to play, you get a set of cards and they all have pictures that match up with any other cards, Pick cards and put them in the story while someone did the cards I had to write the story on a doc and this is what we came up with.
It once was a silent misty day a knight rode along his horse to go to the haunted house to find the treasure. The knight approached the gate he dropped his cross necklace the gates opened he slowly walked up the misty path and found the treasure chest but it was surrounded by sharp black thorns. And along came the haunted houses protector the dragon. The knight was frightened he rode away with his horse and hid away in a cave…

Dear Sir/Madam
Kia Ora e hoa, I’m no stranger here it’s just me a year 7 school girl Taylor I am not here to complain I am here to persuade you to do more about global warming.
Global warming has caused a lot of trouble throughout the world like Kiribati. Their island is going under water because many many years ago in 2002 Global Warming began for them and even today their island is going under water. The people there love their island dearly but they have to leave or they will drown on their island. The Islander’s are travelling to Fiji because, you know why, it’s drowning. They have really made Kiribati their home and I want to keep it that way, can we please help them get their island back.
Global warming was caused because of greenhouse gases (usually carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere which warms the ice caps (the reason they are called that is because they are at the bottom and top of the world and they are Greenland and Antarctica). The snow melts and turns into water, which means that the water level rises. The water has surrounded their island and if someone walks around the island it only takes 5 minutes.
Do you think we should do something about Kiribati’s island? Well I do. I feel bad for the innocent people that did nothing to deserve this terrible event.
Please consider my idea and contact me.
Yours sincerely
Taylor

How the earth was made | The earth series | 2
10/8/2019
IALT (I am learning to): Learn more about the solar system and planet earth. And how to stop terrible things from happening.
How the earth was made
have you ever wondered how the earth was made? well, I have and a few days ago I found out how the earth was made, I thought about who to share my learning with and my third or fourth idea was on my blog! so here is how the earth was made.
Did you know 4.6 billion years ago an enormous cloud of gas and dust called a solar nebular swirls in the milky way galaxy a new solar system was born our solar system to be exact. In a process known as the conservation of angular momentum.
Gravity collapses the cloud turning in into a flattened spinning disk.
The powerful gravity pulls most of the gas into the centre of the disk and this gas gradually condenses coalesces and ultimately forms our sun. Leftover gas and dust swirls around and slowly starts clumping together.
Now the strong solar winds blast outward from the sun blowing lighter materials like hydrogen and helium far out heavier materials like dust and rocks resist the solar wind and remain close to the centre and it's this heavy material that begins clumping together eventually forming the prototypes of the inner rocky planets including planet earth. It's the earths dense rocky core that forms first, heavy materials like iron and nickle gravitate to the centre where as lighter materials drift to the outside eventually forming the earth's crust.
Over millions of years the new earth begins trapping stray gas and it's powerful gravity and this gas eventually becomes our sacred life-saving atmosphere. But suddenly around 1 billion years after the earth is formed Theia a large mars-sized body floating freely in the new solar system crashes into earth causing near catastrophic damage, millions of pieces of the infant planet blast outward into space, some pieces were trapped in the earth's gravity ultimately becoming our moon.
Today comets are rare in the inner solar system only appearing a few times every several decades but during the early primordial times comets were very abundant throughout the entire solar system it's believed these icy comets colliding with a young earth for the initial cause of water on our planets surface.
Of course since then earth has become the pleasant life bearing planet we know as home. We enjoy an abundance of vegetation, water, tools and technologies.
We live a safe and protected life under our atmosphere, that is until the sun turns into a red giant and incinerates the entire planet and wipes out all evidence that earth was an existing planet, But not to worry we've got 5 billion years to figure that out and we can discuss this in another lesson.
Kia ora fellow teachers and students I see you've come back for another lesson about the earth. Just a quick question do you enjoy my interesting facts about the earth? let me know in the comments below.
I hope you enjoyed today's lesson I also hope you learnt something new today and every other day. Also in the comments write what you would like to learn or hear more from me in the future or tomorrow:)
Your sincerely
-Taylor

3 interesting facts about the earth | The earth series | 1
9/8/2019
IALT (I am learning to): Learn more about the solar system and planet earth. And how to stop terrible things from happening.
3 Interest Facts About Our Planet Earth
Planet Earth. That shiny blue marble that has fascinated humanity since they first began to walk across its surface. And why shouldn’t it fascinate us? In addition to being our home and the place where life as we know it originated, it remains the only planet we know of where life thrives. And over the course of the past few centuries, we have learned much about Earth, which has only deepened our fascination with it.
But how much does the average person really know about the planet Earth? You’ve lived on Planet Earth all of your life, but how much do you really know about the ground underneath your feet? You probably have lots of interesting facts rattling around in your brain, but here are 10 more interesting facts about Earth that you may, or may not know.'

You probably have lots of interesting facts rattling around in your brain, but here are 10 more interesting facts about Earth that you may, or may not know.'
1. Plate tectonics keep the earth comfortable:
Earth is the only planet in the solar system with "plate tectonics" So basically the outer crust is broken into regions called tectonic plates. Tectonic plates float above the magma interior of the earth and can move against one another. Tectonic resurfacing and geological activity such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and mountain-buildings are ignited when two of the many tectonic plates collide one plate will subduct (go underneath another) and when they pull apart fresh outer crust will be allowed to form. over long period of times the remnants of this life, rich in carbon are carried back into the interior of the earth and recycled. This pulls carbon out of the atmosphere, which makes sure we don't suffer a runaway greenhouse affect which is what happened to Venus.Without the action of the tectonic plates there would be no way to recycle carbon and the earth will become an overheated hellish place something the "Global warming" but I won't get into much of that because we can save that for another lesson on earth.
2. Earth is mostly Iron, oxygen and silicon:
If you could separate the earth out into piles of different types of materials you'd get 32.1% of iron 30.1% of oxygen 15.1% of silicon and 13.9% of magnesium. Of course most of this iron is actually located at the core of the Earth. If you could actually get down and sample the core, it would be 88% iron. And if you sampled the Earth’s crust, you’d find that 47% of it is oxygen.
3. The earth's molten iron core creates a magnetic field:
The earth is basically an enormous magnet, with poles at top and bottom near to the actual geographic poles. The magnetic field extends thousands of kilometres out from the surface of the earth forming a region called magnetosphere scientists think that this magnetic field is generated by the molten outer core of the earth, where heat creates convection motions of conducting materials to generate electric currents. be grateful for the magnetosphere,
without it particles from the sun's solar wind would hit the earth directly. Exposing the surface of the planet to significant amounts of radiation. Instead of the magnetosphere channels the solar wind around the Earth, protecting us from harm. Scientists have also theorized that Mars’ thin atmosphere is due to it having a weak magnetosphere compared to Earth’s, which allowed solar wind to slowly strip it away.
And that ladies and gentlemen was my really long informative 3 interesting facts about the earth if you would like to see more I would love to post more about the earth not only to teach me but to teach you guys as well. I hope you have all learnt something today in my 3 paged essay because I know I have. This has got nothing to do with school it is a post about something that I have learnt or already known and I want to share them publicly.
I hope you learnt some new thing about our planet!
